Temperature control

ME Essential Spring 2025

I know that ME often causes problems with temperature control and this can result in people feeling cold and possibly having a lower than normal body temperature.

I have a different problem in that I have a semi-permanent and slightly raised temperature. It’s not causing any particular problems – so I haven’t consulted my doctor.

Can this happen in ME as well?

CRP blood test

ME Essential Winter 2024

I’ve been feeling generally more unwell for several months, so my GP has done some blood tests. They were all reported to be normal – apart from a slightly raised level of one test called a CRP. This is now going to be repeated. What is this test? Is it something that can be raised in ME? And what happens if it remains raised?

Worried about weight loss

ME Essential Autumn 2024

I’ve read on the internet that one of the many symptoms of ME is weight loss. My weight has dropped from about 11 stone to just over 9.5 stone over the past six months. I have a reasonable appetite and eat a fairly normal diet. I don’t have any stomach or bowel problems. The fact that I’ve lost quite a bit of weight doesn’t really bother me but why does this occur in ME?

Treatment: Low Dose Steroids

ME Essential Autumn 2022

I’m having joint problems at the moment and my consultant wants to inject a steroid into the joint to calm things down. I’m concerned that this could make my ME/CFS worse because I thought that people with ME/CFS should not take steroids. What do you suggest I do?
