Parliamentary Question | recording of Work Capability Assessments | 5 July 2012

July 12, 2012

The Employment Minister, Chris Grayling, stated the Government's official position on the recording of Work Capability Assessments in a written answer provided on 5 July.

Stephen Timms (Labour MP, East Ham) had tabled a question asking the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many people have requested that their work capability assessments should be recorded in each of the last 12 months.

Chris Grayling:

The Department is currently negotiating with Atos Healthcare to agree what contractual information will be required to monitor uptake of recordings.

In the interim, departmental officials have asked Atos Healthcare to accommodate requests for recordings where the claimant requests in advance of their assessment.

It might be useful to quote the highlighted second paragraph of the Minister’s answer when asking for your assessment to be recorded – but give plenty of notice.
