M.E, the menopause and HRT – feedback welcome | 5 June 2015

June 5, 2015

Our medical adviser, Dr Charles Shepherd, is preparing a new MEA Management File on the subject of M.E, the Menopause and HRT.

This is because the menopause has a number of symptoms that overlap with ME/CFS and they may then cause an exacerbation of ME/CFS symptoms, or even a relapse.

In addition, some women with ME/CFS are reluctant to use HRT – which can help a number of menopausal symptoms.

Consequently, we receive regular queries about both the menopause and the use of HRT.

So feedback on any aspect of going through the menopause would be welcome. These would include problems with diagnosis, symptoms, effect on ME/CFS, HRT, and other forms of treatment, including alternative ones.

To let us have your comments, please use meconnect@meassociation.org.uk

NB: There is Q and A on alternative treatments for menopausal symptoms in the current (May) issue of our ME Essential magazine

Thanks!
