There will be a FREE screening of the Natalie Boulton and Josh Biggs movie about severe M.E. ‘Voices from the Shadows' at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Thursday, March 8 at 5.30 fpr 6.30pm – which is International Women's Day.
The film runs for 63 minutes and panellists are being lined up for a discussion about the film afterwards. The event will finish at 7pm.
The building is located on Keppel St, close to the British Museum and Senate House. It is within walking distance of a number of Tube stations.
The screening is in the Manson auditorium which is close to the entrance of the building and is wheelchair accessible.
To help process visitors and ensure we have enough space, folks intending to come should RSVP the organisers – the Film Club at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine – at filmclub@lshtm.ac.uk. Any questions can also be sent to that email address.
The organisers say that the showing of the film on International Women's Day has been prompted by the fact that women suffer disproportionately from M.E.
Dr Charles Shepherd, medical adviser to the ME Association, will be joining the panel for an after-screening discussion. Other panellists will include Natalie Boulton and Drs Eliana Lacerda and Luis Nacul, who conduct research into ME/CFS at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Could MEA consider contacting Jenni Murray, presenter of Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour programme about this screening; it might mean a wider audience for it and generally more publicity about severe ME. (Though of course severe ME isn’t confined to women)
