Website and Social Media Officer – (Part- time, Employed)

The ME Association is a registered health charity that provides expert help to people with ME/CFS and Long Covid.

We have established an excellent reputation and consistently deliver high standards of support, reliable and timely information, welcome medical training, effective campaigning, and we fund medical research.

With an increasing demand on core services, we are looking for an enthusiastic, responsible, and well-organised person to join the website and social media team.

The Role

  • £14,560 (FTE £25,480) to be paid monthly in arrears.
  • Part-time, Employed:
  • Annual leave: 25 days +bank holidays (pro-rata).
  • Pension: Contributory NEST pension scheme.
  • The option to work from home or from the Head Office in Gawcott.
  • 20 hours a week (Monday – Friday, between 10am – 4pm).
  • 3-month probation.
  • Reporting to Emma Jefferies (Social Media Specialist).

Responsibilities

You will be capable of assisting the team by:

  • reviewing daily news alerts.

Drafting:

  • website and social media content.
  • website surveys and monitoring outcomes.
  • E-Newsletters.
  • creating suitable graphics within Canva.
  • contributing ideas and planning future activities.

You will help to:

  • effectively promote the charity’s services and campaigns.
  • monitor social media platforms and answer comments.
  • monitor the email account and respond appropriately.
  • maintain website databases, the free literature, and the website shop.
  • develop and maintain planned future projects.

Requirements

  • Experience of WordPress (Website), GetResponse (E-Newsletter), Canva, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, would be welcome.
  • Experience of ME/CFS or Long Covid would be helpful.
  • An excellent communicator and team player.
  • Experience of Microsoft 365 and Teams would be useful.
  • Empathy and situational awareness.

ME Connect Telephone Helpline –  Volunteers needed! 

Please can you offer some spare time to listen and support people with ME/CFS/PVFS and Long Covid? 

ME Connect is the ME Association’s Support and Information Service for People Affected By ME/CFS/PVFS and Long Covid. 

This vital service supports people affected by these conditions and has a team of dedicated volunteers that are available to listen,  validate, and empathise with any issues people might be facing. The ME Association’s ME Connect service is proud member of the helplines partnership.

“ME Connect is about delivering an accessible, professional, and personalised service to people in need. I think we do this very well. Indeed, throughout the pandemic and in 2022/23 we have seen much growth in the number of people seeking support and information.”

The ME Association would like to recruit several volunteers who are able to spare a few hours to cover helpline time slots, 10-12noon, 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Volunteers will need a landline and full training will be provided. You would join a wonderful team who are passionate and committed to providing an exceptional service.
