Madcap dash this May up the highest peaks in mainland Britain

March 16, 2012

A mad-cap dash up the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales will be attempted by an eight-strong team in May to raise money for the ME Association.

The team led by Jon Maisey from Newport Street in Leicester will take on the Three Peaks Challenge – scaling Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, all inside 24 hours – beginning on Friday, 18 May.

Jon tells us: “We have been close friends for many years and have another friend (now girlfriend of one of the group) who has been diagnosed and has suffered from Myalgic Encephalopathy since her early teens.

“Over the years I have seen first hand how devastating this illness can be on a person's life and we would like to use this opportunity to raise some money for the MEA”.

Joining Jon in pushing for the peaks will be Simon Rodgers, Carlo Girasoli, Mike Lote, Mark Roe and Stu Mills – if Stu is fit enough after a recent leg operation. Providing essential back-up as drivers will be Gary Lote and Dave Evans.
