The ME Association is the oldest charity in the UK, providing support and information to people affected by ME/CFS and, more recently, Long Covid. We also campaign on important issues and invest in medical research.  

We engage with the NHS and social care providers to ensure those in need have access to the care and support recommended by the NICE Guideline on ME/CFS.   

As part of these efforts, we will launch a 12-month project focused on the ICB region of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and West Berkshire. The Pilot will give us a much better understanding of how healthcare works at the local level and assess the impact we might have as a charity.  

In this region, we will engage with local people and their healthcare providers to increase awareness of these medical conditions and ensure that appropriate services are made available. We will also be engaging on behalf of individuals who have experienced problems with healthcare regardless of where they live in the UK.  

We are looking for 2 Project Officers who are enthusiastic, responsible, and well-organised, with experience of working in a project environment. 

The Role 

  • £14,560 (FTE £25,480) to be paid monthly in arrears. 
  • 12 months fixed term contract. 
  • The option to work from home or from head office in Gawcott. 
  • Part-time, Employed: 
  • 20 hours a week (Monday – Friday, between the hours of 8 am – 4 pm).
  • Annual leave entitlement: 25 days +bank holidays (pro-rata). 
  • Pension: Contributory NEST pension scheme. 
  • 2-month probation period. 

Responsibilities 

  • help launch and maintain the project. 
  • take part in meetings with local support groups, Health Watch, and healthcare providers.  
  • help create website blogs and suitable graphics to share on social media.   
  • monitor social media platforms daily for comments relating to healthcare.  
  • help to produce letters and emails, mail merges, and book meetings.   
  • review and maintain project databases and website pages by researching services and managing a list of contacts.  
  • review healthcare websites and suggest improvements where necessary by liaising proactively with the provider.  
  • monitor the team's email account and manage external enquiries, responding in a timely and professional manner.  
  • provide any additional support as required to help achieve the project's aims.  

Requirements 

  • A proven ability to work in a project environment.  
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, multitasking, prioritising effectively, and working to demanding deadlines.  
  • Knowledge of ME/CFS or Long Covid is advantageous but not essential.  
  • Experience working in the NHS or social care services would be useful.  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.   
  • Experience with social media including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.   
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).  
  • Empathy and situational awareness.
