You will be welcome at our ‘ME Question Time’ – Huddersfield, Saturday October 8

September 26, 2011

Since posting this item, we have heard that Dr Nigel Speight will be unable to join us for this ME Question Time. His place on the panel will be taken by Elizabeth Turp, a counsellor and author of the recently published handbook Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/M.E Support for Family and Friends.

Our annual ‘ME Question Time’ this year will be held in Huddersfield – thanks to an invitation from Jo Cameron-Symes, who recently took over from Janet Taylor as chairperson of the Kirklees Independent ME Support Group.

Jo set the wheels in motion when she phoned us the day she received the last ME Essential. In that issue, we had invited local groups willing to co-host the event with us to get in touch.

“We are really looking forward to staging the event here and turning it into a successful and enjoyable event”, said Jo.

The ‘ME Question Time’ will be held at the Textile Centre of Excellence, Red Doles Lane, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD2 1YF on Saturday, October 8. It will start at 2pm and continue until about 4.30pm.

The panellists will be Jo herself, Dr Charles Shepherd (our medical adviser), Dr Nigel Speight (our paediatric medical adviser who was an NHS consultant at North Durham Hospital), Jane Colby (executive director of the Young ME Sufferers Trust who is based in Essex) and a registered dietitian with a special interest in ME/CFS, Sue Luscombe.

Once they have introduced themselves, you will be able to fire any questions at them that you like that are connected with ME/CFS.

If you are unable to get along yourself or would prefer to submit your question in advance, please email your question to
meconnect@meassociation.org.uk or post it to our office at 7 Apollo Office Court, Radclive Road, Gawcott MK18 4DF. Please mark your correspondence ‘ME Question Time’.

Admission to the event will be free and you do not have to book your seats in advance. The venue is wheelchair-friendly with everything on one level and there is ample car-parking close by. Refreshments will be available in the interval.
