Successful launch night of Jeremy Jeff’s photography exhibition, ‘Lives we cannot Live’, at London’s Oxo Tower Wharf

Last night (Wednesday 24th September), the ME Association held a prestigious event to launch ‘Lives We Cannot Live,’ a photographic exhibition by documentary film-maker and photographer Jeremy Jeffs. The exhibition tells the stories of people with ME/CFS through a collection of more than 50 striking images.

As a leading UK charity for people with ME, The ME Association is proud to present this exhibition, recognising how vitally important it is in raising awareness of ME. Several ME Association staff welcomed a large number of guests including researchers, media, fundraisers, donors and other influential people from the ME/CFS sphere. The ME Association Trustees produced an overview of the charity and future plans, while Jeremy Jeffs provided an insight into the inspiration behind the exhibition, and Professor Danny Altmann addressed the historic challenges with ME/CFS research along with a shared commitment to drive progress.

The ME Association is proud to present this exhibition, recognising how vitally important it is in raising awareness of this multi-systemic disease. Around 400,000 people in the UK have this debilitating illness and we need to highlight how this disease impacts people’s quality of life.

Jeremy and I first started talking over a year ago about this project and for us it was a no-brainer. There was just no way that we were not going to support and help surface this project because it really aligns with our objectives and what we're trying to do. We've got many partners and friends, members of the ME Association in the room. We've got fundraisers and donors. And without all of you, none of this would be possible. So a huge thank you for your support.

Martine Ainsworth-Wells, MEA Trustee and Campaigns Director

Thank you to everybody who took part in this exhibition, all the people I photographed.

I'm very grateful for the support of the ME Association, who got behind us right from the start. They helped publicise it, find these people to talk to, and then have come on board supporting this fantastic space.

Jeremy Jeffs

The launch of ‘Lives We Cannot Live' Launch was a resounding success to raise awareness of this debilitating disease to the wider public and influential guest, whilst garnering further support for the ME Association to enable us to continue our vital work.

If you’d like to visit the photo exhibition, you can do so until Sunday 28th Sept.
