From one old codger to one young running star – well done, mate! You’re almost there…| 23 September 2016

Eighteen-year-old Tom Hunt, who is running all the way from Land's End to John O'Groats – the equivalent of running 38 marathons back-to-back in 30 days – will complete his last 30 miles tomorrow.

His knees have become dodgy – he's tweeted a photo of himself wearing a neoprene brace on each knee (just like this old codger who similarly braces a wonky one!) – but he's almost there.

And in the process he has powered his way through his target of raising £15,000 for the MEA's research programme – his fundraising total at the moment stands at £15,230.

This is one amazing young man! All he has had by way of back-up is support on the road throughout from his sister, offers of overnight stays from friendly supporters and – from the look of his his Twitter feed – the use of a camper van.

Oh, and unstinting support from our fundraising nerve centre run from her Scottish eyrie by Helen Hyland (Helen.Hyland@meassociation.org.uk).

Tom tweets as @RunTomRun2016. Tweeted messages of support as he enters the home straight tomorrow will be much appreciated.

– Tony at the MEA (who feels knackered just thinking about it all).

AND HE MADE IT! TOM IS PICTURED AT THE JOHN O'GROAT'S FINISHING LINE WITH HIS MUM, BELINDA, AND ADAM VINTNER.
