April 24, 2015

We now have a full team of 14 runners for the BUPA London 10k and wish them all well when they take part in the race on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25. The race starts on The Mall and takes runners past some of the most iconic landmarks in the world.

If you would like to support any of them, please click on the blue highlighted name and that will take you through to their online fundraising page.

Clare Rose Williamson is no runner. But she’s VERY determined not to fail. Her sister was diagnosed with ME in 2013.

She writes, “For me though, raising money for the ME Association is much more than just raising money for a great cause it's also about showing support for my sister. I really do admire her never give up attitude; through it all she's always trying something new to help her beat it! She is an inspiration!… I will find this difficult, but not nearly as much of a challenge as day to day living poses for someone with ME”

Rhiannon Payne first ran in London for The ME Association in 2014 – partly as a celebration for having recovered from ME. She has generously offered to run for The ME Association in this, and two other races this year.

Clare Biddle ran her first half marathon last year in Nottingham for The ME Association. She learned about ME from someone she met on holiday. She’s been fundraising hard for us ever since. She will be joined this year by her friend Abbie Pikett.

Carrie Smith is a friend of Jamie Strong – our Trustee Nicky’s son. She’s leading the way with her fundraising at present, having raised over £400 with more to come if she finishes in under 55 minutes.

Brother and sister James and Christina Pearce are running because their mum has had ME for over 13 years and, therefore, for most of their lives. Christina is an experienced runner and will be supporting her brother’s training as this will be his first 10k run.

Josh Gunton has been keen to run for ME Association in London for a while. He’s joined by his friend Luke Thomas.

Harriet Bannington was the first team member to start fundraising – in particular support of her good friend Meghan Curran who has ME. Meghan’s husband Paul has also been persuaded to run in the team.

Richard Eagle is a keen runner – having taken part in many physical challenges before – including The Three Peaks, the London to Paris bike ride and other runs and triathlon events. He is running in support of his cousin Hannah who has suffered from ME for nearly three years and is housebound presently.

Paul Bloomfield runs in support of his wife Heather who has ME. Paul writes: “I am really happy to be involved and be doing something to help (in a small way). My wife has now had ME for the last 20 years”.

Max Roy joins the team to run for his mum. She succumbed to ME over the last few years. He runs the race for the ME Association, “in the hope that they find a cure and help my mother and the other 250,000 people who suffer daily from this terrible illness”.
