There will be early afternoon discussion about ME/CFS on BBC 3 Counties Radio this Sunday (April 21) – to coincide with the launch of the new Bedfordshire NHS service for people with the illness later in the week.
People living with the illness – including ME Association chairman Neil Riley – and the clinical lead for the new service will be interviewed on the station's regular “Shrink Wrapped” programme with Dr Chetna Kang and Toby Friedner from midday onwards.
“We'll be asking people a simple question – what is their experience of living with ME/CFS? And we'll see where we go from there”, said Toby Friedner today.
GPs will be able to refer people with ME/CFS or who suspect they have the illness to clinic sessions on Thursdays at the Disability Resource Centre in Poynters Road, Dunstable. Read how we reported the upcoming launch on April 24 HERE.

This programme was appalling. I think it’s the worst one I’ve ever heard. The studio guests were talking about “you must push your children”, “you must accept all help”. There were a couple of ok calls but the basic message was GET is good.
It was awful to listen to.
I’m normally really pleased with the ME Association’s contributions to radio/TV shows but I’m sorry to say I felt really let down. Considering this was such an awful show, the warnings about GET etc were really important to get across and instead it was a supportive line on centres and their ‘treatments’ and no mention of the terrible dangers of GET.
Programmes such as these make you put your head in your hands. Dire.
