Bosses at Leeds General Infirmary are investigating after Ella, who suffers with severe M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and PoTS (Postural Tachycardia Syndrome), was allegedly left untreated for hours in A&E.

The teen ended up in intensive care as doctors battled to save her as her sepsis worsened – a near tragedy that Jo thinks could have been avoided.

Jo said medics on her daughter's ward have been brilliant caring for her, but have as yet been unable to give her a firm diagnosis.

She suspects that the teen has autonomic dysfunction – a multi-system disorder – and Jo has located a private specialist in London who she hopes can shed light on her illness quickly.

“It shouldn't be that the only thing that stops you is money,” said Jo. “I've never begged for anything in my life, but one of my friends said ‘you've got to swallow your pride to save Ella's life.'”

Ella, previously an energetic youngster who enjoyed sports and dancing, was diagnosed with ME at the age of 11.
