Dorset ME Support Group have flagged up a warning of road closures which will affect access to their annual Medical Lecture on Saturday, May 5 – to be given by Dr Charles Shepherd, medical adviser to the ME Association.
The lecture at Dumpton School, Wimborne, will start at 2.30pm, entry is free with a charge for refreshments, but the group says careful note should be made of the following advised routes to get to the school.
PEOPLE PLANNING TO BE THERE SHOULD NOTE:
We have been advised that road closures in Wimborne may affect access to the Dumpton School. One closure in the town centre and another on Burts Hill (which leads to Dumpton Sch.)
IF TRAVELLING FROM THE WEST, entering Wimborne over Julians Bridge and along Julians Road, access to West St may still be closed at the mini roundabout.
Turn left onto the Blandford Road and turn right into Stone Lane at the traffic lights just before Queen Elizabeth School. Follow Stone Lane to the traffic light junction with Wimborne Road. As Burts Hill is closed close to the Junction with Wimborne Road, turn right into West Borough and follow the traffic flow towards the Allendale Centre and Turn left into Allenview Road.
Follow Allenview Road until its T-junction with Burts Hill. Turn right and you are now back on track. Watch for the left turn into Deanes Grove just past the Horns Inn. Dumpton School entrance is about 200 yards on the left.
IF APPROACHING WIMBORNE FROM THE SOUTH OR EAST, you will probably be unaffected by any town centre closures. However, Burts Hill is closed at its southwestern end.
If approaching via the town centre relief road from the bottom of Rowlands Hill, turn right at the first mini roundabout, into Allenview Road. Follow Allenview Road until its T-junction with Burts Hill, and turn right. Watch for the left turn into Deanes Grove just after the Horns Inn, Dumpton School entrance is about 200 yards on the left.
