Karren was recently successful in overturning an ME/CFS specialist service's decision to restrict referral access based on an individual's BMI score. Charlotte discovered that this is not an isolated problem and we will subsequently be writing to other service leads in an attempt to remove BMI as a condition of referral. It seems very unfair and is not supported by the NICE Guideline to restrict access to a specialist service because an individual has gained weight, especially if that person is seeking a second referral.
