Making it Personal

Giving is deeply personal, and everyone’s motivations are unique. That’s why we want you to give in a way that feels right for you — while ensuring your support has the greatest impact.

By contributing to one of our key funding priorities, you can direct your donation to the areas that matter most to you.

You can also join our Changemakers Giving Club, a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to transforming ME/CFS care.

Whether you're considering a major personal gift or a recurring donation, we’ll help you maximise your impact. We can guide you on tax-efficient giving or discuss the Ramsay Research Fund, which provides ringfenced support for biomedical research without any administrative costs.

Maximising your Gift with Gift Aid

Your gift could be worth 25% more at no extra cost to you just by adding Gift Aid. HMRC will add an extra 25p to every £1 on eligible gifts to the ME Association.

For example, if a donor is a UK taxpayer and donates £8,000 to the ME Association we are able to claim 25% of this donation via Gift Aid. This creates an additional £2,000 at no extra cost to the donor. This means we would receive a total of £10,000.

Claiming Tax Relief

If you are a higher rate or additional rate taxpayer, you can claim the difference between your tax rate and the basic rate on the net value of your donation after the inclusion of Gift Aid.

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, this means higher rate taxpayers can claim back 20% of the net donation, and additional rate taxpayers can claim back 25%. If you live in Scotland, the same rules apply but the tax rates differ.

For example, if you're a higher rate taxpayer in England and you donate £8,000 and Gift Aid it, The ME Association would receive £10,000 and you could claim £2,000 back – meaning the effective cost of your donation would be £6,000.

Giving Shares

Donating shares is a simple, tax-effective way to support the ME Association. You won't have to pay any capital gains tax on the share you donate and you can claim income tax relief too.
