Would you like to join Mie on the London to Brighton Cycle Ride?

February 22, 2022

“I've been cycling for a few years but mostly commuting to work. I've never done such a long distance before and it will be a good challenge for me.

“It would be amazing to have the 2022 fundraiser pack as well, so I can wear the t-shirt when I ride on race day.”

IMPORTANT NOTICE

For people with ME/CFS who are thinking about taking on a physical fundraising challenge, or if you are organising an event that might involve people with ME/CFS, please read this notice from Neil Riley, Chairman of the ME Association.

Mariyam Didi – “please call me ‘Mie'” – will be jumping on a bike to take part in the London to Brighton Cycle Ride on 11th September.

Mie is supporting us because her “incredible partner” Darren has ME. “Here's the cheesy bit!”, she added. “My life is infinitely better for having Darren in it and I would like to do everything I can to make life better for him. Please join me in raising awareness and much-needed funds for research.”

Mie told us yesterday on Facebook: “If anyone else does sign up for the ride. please do let me know. It would be great to train together!”

Mie has had such a good start with her fundraising. With six months to go until the big race, friends, neighbours, family and colleagues have already donated over £1,800 on her JustGiving page, and she'd really like your support as well. If you would like to help, please visit her fundraising page.

Thank you so much!

The London to Brighton Cycle Run – Places Still Available!

The 55-mile route of the London to Brighton Cycle Run starts south of the River Thames at Clapham Common, with staggered starts from early in the morning. It then predominantly follows a route through quiet country lanes passing through Mitcham, Carshalton, Chipstead, Banstead and Haywards Heath before taking on the challenge that is Ditchling Beacon – a mile-long climb to the top of the South Downs where riders will be rewarded with amazing views and a water break.

Then it's a fast tootle down towards the promenade at Brighton. This year the event is being held on Sunday, 11th September, and cyclists wanting to raise money for the ME Association can still book themselves in for the ride. Places cost £55 each, which riders will have to pay themselves.

Find out all about the race and how to enter here. We look forward to hearing from you!
