The CureME Team at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is looking for people to act as healthy controls. Their samples and data will contribute not only to the HHV-6 study but also to Rosetta Stone. Rosetta Stone is a study funded by the ME Association – the largest ever single investment (1.1M) in biomedical research by any charity in this field.
If you, or someone among your family or friends (aged between 18 and 60) would like to take part, the CureME team can either arrange an appointment for you to visit the LSHTM in Bloomsbury, or the research nurse may be able to visit you if you live in East Anglia.
Please email the UKMEB if you are willing to provide a sample using the email: mecfsbiobank@lshtm.ac.uk. Travel expenses can be reimbursed up to the sum of £25.
The CureME research team is based at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, within the Department of Clinical Research and is at the forefront of participatory epidemiological, clinical and laboratory research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS) in the UK.
Research focuses on improving the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of ME/CFS, and led to the creation of the UK’s first ME/CFS Biobank (UKMEB).
The ME Association’s Ramsay Research Fund has been supporting the UK ME/CFS Biobank (UKMEB) since it was established in 2011.
In the process of regularly providing samples from people with ME/CFS to researchers, they are always looking for volunteers to provide healthy controls.
