From me to you: Carly and Mum

From M.E. to You: Is there a medal big enough for Mum?

“She deserves a medal as big as a dustbin lid!” That’s what MEA member Carly Leese thinks about her mother Yvette.

“My mum has been my rock for a good number of years, helping me through some very bad mental health struggles back in 2014. I was diagnosed with ME in 2017 and there’s been there for me ever since”, she writeS from the family home in Stoke-on-Trent.

“She often stays at my flat, helping with most things, such as cleaning and cooking, although I’m the better cook 🙂!

“She deserves a medal as big as a dustbin lid for all of the help that she gives to myself, and the rest of the family.

“As I said, she is my rock, but she is also my best friend and partner in crime when my body allows me to go out. But, even when we are in my flat, we laugh at most things, but I think that is to do with my sense of humour. “

“Think Sarah Millican, but the Stoke-on Trent version.

“No amount of money or “thank you’s” could ever replace the help, care and love that my Mum has given to me over the years.

“I love her so much, I don’t know what I’d do without her.”

Thank you, Carly – that was a lovely tribute and you sent in some gorgeous photos of the two of you together.

Carly has nominated Yvette for a hamper in our great Christmas give-away which is now beginning to wind down in the run-up to the holiday.

This Christmas, we've been giving away 100 hampers crammed with seasonal goodies in a salute to the ME Association’s unpaid carers.

We’ve received 275 nominations – thank you for everyone of them! The campaign is now being wound down in the run-up to the holiday.
