We are delighted to announce that the UK ME/CFS Biobank is contributing to the new Horizon Europe-funded DISCOVER-ME project, an international research collaboration focused on uncovering the biological mechanisms driving ME/CFS and improving approaches to diagnosis, disease classification, prognosis, and treatment.
Through the unique resources of the UK ME/CFS Biobank, including well-characterised participant cohorts, biological samples, and detailed clinical data, the CureME team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine will contribute valuable insights to this ambitious European initiative. By bringing together expertise from multiple countries and combining biological, clinical, and technological approaches, DISCOVER-ME aims to advance our understanding of ME/CFS and support the development of more personalised approaches to care.
This collaboration highlights the growing international recognition of the UK ME/CFS Biobank as a key research resource and demonstrates the importance of participant contributions in enabling world-leading ME/CFS research.
The ME Association has supported the UK ME/CFS Biobank from the beginning. Since 2009 we have invested £1.1M in this vital resource and we will continue to cover annual running costs until at least the end of 2027.
