The Equality Act and ME/CFS: Ask an expert with David Walton

We are excited to announce that ME Connected are hosting our first ever expert guest speaker!

David Walton is the ME Association's Honorary Employment Advisor and has over 20 years of experience as a specialist employment law solicitor. On 21st May 2026, he will be giving a talk via our online community, ME Connected, regarding the 2010 Equality Act and how it relates to ME/CFS. You will also have the opportunity to have your questions answered.

David Walton

David leads Primas Law’s employment team and has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist employment law solicitor.
He has been a source of advice and support to ME Connect for over 10 years, and has most recently served as the charity’s honorary employment adviser.
David has a close family member who has had to contend with ME/CFS for the last 15 years; it is a cause that is very close to home.
He provides expert advice to people with the condition following a referral from ME Connect and offers a 30-minute initial consultation for free.
David also contributes to the literature produced by the charity and to ME Essential when his other work allows.

Do I need a Discord account to join the event?
Yes, you need to set up a Discord account and join ME Connected's Discord community in order to take part in the event. The sign up link is here.
Will it be recorded?
No, the event won't be recorded. We do however hope to host more events like this on in the future.
Will I need to be on camera or talk to take part?
No. You are welcome to have your camera turned on or off depending oh your preference. We ask that when joining the talk everyone initially keeps themselves muted, but you are welcome to turn your microphone on to ask questions or if David calls on you. You will be able to send messages during the event if you have any issues or wish to ask David a question.
Is it free to join Discord?
Yes, Discord is a free platform and it doesn't cost anything to join.
How can I submit questions?
If you wish to send in a question early then you can do so using this form here. The deadline for early questions is Sunday 17th May, but even if you miss this deadline, you will still have the chance to ask a question during the event. Please note that we many not be able to answer all questions due to time constraints.

Yes, our ME Connected team are here to help if you get stuck. Please first have a go at setting up using the instructions linked here. If you have issues please email meconnect@meassociation.org.uk. Please sign up in plenty of time before the event so that if you experience any issues, we have time to help you, and bear in mind it can take us up to 7 days to respond to your message.
