ME Association Comment

Thanks to Danny for explaining the important overlaps between Long Covid and ME/CFS to BBC radio 4 listeners and why we need high quality research, using large numbers of people, to investigate the shared biological pathways between the two conditions. This new research could also help to find diagnostic biomarkers and treatments that are aimed at the underlying disease process rather than symptoms.

Dr Charles Shepherd,
Trustee and Hon. Medical Adviser to the ME Association,
Member of the 2018-2021 NICE guideline on ME/CFS committee,
Member of the 2002 Chief Medical Officer's Working Group on ME/CFS
