How Covid can damage inner lining of blood vessels

Video covering how Covid infection can inflame and damage the inner lining of blood vessels

This is a really excellent short video from Dr Rae Duncan, a consultant cardiologist at the University of Newcastle with a degree in infectious diseases

She covers the cardiovascular complications arising from both acute Covid and Long Covid

In relation to Long Covid, Dr Duncan provides a very helpful and easy to understand explanation of how Covid infection can inflame and damage the endothelium – the inner lining of blood vessels – and how this inflammation may then lead to the development of small fibrin/amyloid micro-clots inside the capillaries/smaller blood vessels

It is interesting to note that endothelial dysfunction has also been reported in ME/CFS – this research is summarised and referenced in the Research section of the 2022 MEA purple book
