  • Welcome to the Primary Fatigue Service. This service provides help and support for people living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Long COVID, and Post Viral Fatigue, where other medical causes have been ruled out.
  • The Primary Fatigue Service Team includes Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, a Therapy Technical Instructor, Psychologist, Psychology Assistant, a GP with Special Interest in ME/CFS, Long COVID or Post Viral Fatigue and a Clerical Officer.
  • Referrals are via your GP, Consultant or other Healthcare professional following some simple tests to rule out other causes.
  • You will be offered an assessment with one of our therapists. This can be at one of our clinics, on the phone or at your home. This is where you can tell us your story, and we can work out your condition management plan together. The assessment doesn’t have to be all in one go. We can adapt the length of the sessions to suit your needs.
  • Your management plan might include one-to-one support with one or more of the therapists, or you may benefit from the CAMAU group programme. Most importantly, your plan will be designed to fit around your needs.
  • CAMAU is the Welsh word for “Steps”, and the programme takes a stepped approach to building the tools that can help you manage your condition, including PEM/PESE, sleep, nutrition and finding some pleasure and quality of life. Helping you to gain the skills and knowledge to self-manage and live well with your condition.
  • The CAMAU Programme supports people to understand and manage multiple symptoms, to find a baseline and to learn about planning, pacing and prioritising activity. The programme is available at different community venues in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg region, for people living in Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil or Rhondda Cynon Taf throughout the year, and is also available online.
