Raising Awareness of ME/CFS and Long Covid with the Brigitte Trust

On 23 September, a member of the H4ME team had the privilege of delivering an awareness session on ME/CFS and Long Covid to volunteers at the Brigitte Trust. The Trust is an independent Surrey charity whose trained volunteers provide free emotional and practical support to people living with life-limiting conditions, such as cancer, certain neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure, as well as to their families and carers.

We were honoured to present alongside two incredible advocates: a woman living with severe ME, who gave a powerful presentation from her bed, and a dedicated carer supporting her father, who is living with Long Covid.

The Brigitte Trust team were shocked to learn how little appropriate support is available to people with ME/CFS and Long Covid, and how profoundly these conditions can affect individuals and their families. They were extremely appreciative of the opportunity to learn more and to hear directly from people with lived experience.

Everyone at H4ME and the MEA would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to the two remarkable women we presented alongside. Their courage, knowledge and willingness to share their experiences are invaluable in helping others understand the realities of ME/CFS and Long Covid. We would also like to thank the Brigitte Trust for inviting us and for the opportunity to raise awareness of these important issues with their volunteers.
