The ME Association maintains an NHS directory that lists all specialist ME/CFS/LC services in England and Wales. This directory includes clinics, doctors, and community services that specialise in ME/CFS/LC, along with their addresses. It also provides details about the services offered, referral information, and the staff at each location.
Please note that not every county will have a specialist service, and some larger counties may have three or four different services available.
We strive to keep this directory as up-to-date and accurate as possible. If you are aware of any ME/CFS/LC services in your area that have opened, closed, changed addresses, or experienced any other changes, please get in touch with the Healthcare Team at health@meassociation.org.uk.
Why do I need a referral to a specialist team?
The 2021 NICE guideline recommends that once a diagnosis has been made at three months, adults and children should then be referred to a specialist team/referral centre to confirm the diagnosis and develop a care and management plan. If there is not a suitable ME/CFS referral service nearby, the Countess of Mar has established through a House of Lords parliamentary question that people with ME/CFS can be referred elsewhere to an NHS service/consultant of their choice

If you feel your GP is unable to manage your ME/CFS effectively, it’s reasonable to request a referral to an ME/CFS clinic. Some GPs might not be aware of such services, which primarily exist in England.
