Dr Charles Shepherd (Honorary Medical Adviser to the ME Association) joins Healthwatch Northumberland on Friday 14th July 1pm-2pm to talk about Long Covid. This is a free online event and you can register to join via the link below:
In the first 30 minutes, Dr Shepherd will be covering the following:
- Brief background – What is ME/CFS and post-viral disease and how does this link to Long Covid
- Defining and assessing people with Long Covid and explaining that it is not one single condition
- Current ONS statistics on Long Covid
- Current findings from research into the cause of Long Covid
- Current findings from research into the treatment for Long Covid
- Management of Long Covid – including information on ME/CFS symptoms: Fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, OI and PoTS, Pain, Sleep disturbance etc, Covid related symptoms, and other key aspects of management i.e employment
At the end of the talk, there will be an opportunity to ask Dr Shepherd questions which will last for around 30mins.
