Petition to Cochrane: Withdraw the review on ‘Exercise therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome’

Cochrane has recently provided the following update regarding their 2019 review ‘Exercise therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome’, which supported the use of exercise therapy for ME/CFS.

To sign the petition asking Cochrane to withdraw the harmful 2019 ‘Exercise therapy for CFS' review, please see the link.

Extracts: Cochrane – Update on ‘Exercise therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome’

In 2019, Cochrane published an amended version of the review ‘Exercise therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome’ and, at that time, announced an intention to further update the review. Due to insufficient new research in the field and a lack of resources to oversee this work, the update will not be proceeding.

MEA Comment

The position being taken by Cochrane in relation to their publication on ‘Exercise therapy for CFS' is unacceptable.

The information is out of date (it was produced in 2019 before publication of the new NICE guideline on ME/CFS) and potentially harmful.

It needs to be withdrawn.
