Diana Hauber nominated her brother Ricky for one of our Christmas hampers last time for making her life as a person with ME so much easier.
He got her a wheelchair so she could go out. Her pushed her around. He takes her to all her medical appointments. He tracked down helpful organisations like the ME Association and found her a new GP when her old one didn’t seem to believe that ME exists. He even helped her obtain benefits when illness forced her to give up work.
‘He is my ‘right hand’ and does all my errands – from buying birthday presents for friend to getting books from the library”, said Diana who lives with her brother in Fulwell, Sunderland.

This Christmas we’re giving away another 100 hampers so our members have their chance to say ‘thank you’ to the people who care for them the most. The first draw of 25 hampers took place two days ago and there will be another three draws in the run-up to Christmas.
A relative or dear friend could be your ‘unsung hero’ – the person who makes a huge difference to your life.
There are three ways to nominate them for a hamper:
- Visit our website and fill in the nomination form there: https://meassociation.org.uk/frommetoyou2024
- Email your nomination to frommetoyou@meassociation.org.uk
- Telephone our office on 01280 818 963
Whatever way you choose, this is what we will need you to tell us:
- Your full name
- Your nominee’s name, postal address, email and phone number
- Your relationship to your nominee
- The reasons why you are nominating them
Nominees will be selected randomly every week.
Please note that we might make the reasons for your nomination public but we will always ask you and your nominee for permission to do so first.
Please let us have your nomination as soon as possible and, in any event, no later than Monday 23rd December 2024.
Could you be a Secret Santa this year?
A generous donor has paid for the first 100 hampers, but over 250 were requested last time round. So we are also offering you the opportunity to become a Secret Santa this year.
If you can, please help spread some joy through or community by giving us a donation here:
