The OTs were kind and gave good info on pacing, but no screening for common comorbid conditions, or referrals on to cardiology for POTS, rheumatology for EDS or Fibromyalgia, allergy clinic for MCAS, sleep clinic, pain clinic or community dieticians for IBS. Also they gave the impression that ME would improve over time, when we know from Decode ME that it is more likely to get worse.

Referrals are triaged by specialist clinicians in the service, and if appropriate, patients are invited to attend an initial assessment with a specialist clinician. At the appointment, patients are assessed, and a diagnosis is confirmed based on the preliminary diagnosis from the referring GP.

Information and advice for self-management of the condition are person-centred and delivered through education sessions, therapy interventions, and self-help literature. Areas covered (amongst others) include education regarding the symptomology of ME/CFS, understanding energy, activity management, relaxation, sleep, stress, and emotional well-being.

Clinical and therapy appointments are offered virtually (via video link or telephone). If preferred, face-to-face appointments can be offered at clinics in Peterborough (Botolph Bridge Community Health Centre), Huntingdon (Hinchingbrooke Hospital), and Cambridge (Brookfield Hospital).
