HASC meeting with CHC-Funded Community Nursing Team in Devon

Last week, the HASC team had the opportunity to meet with the Continuing Healthcare (CHC)-funded community nursing team based in Devon. The team, made up of three full-time nurses, provides care for patients with complex chronic health conditions, including individuals severely affected by ME/CFS.

The nurses reached out to the ME Association for support and resources to better assist their patients and the families who care for them. They described the considerable challenges they face in their work when supporting patients who are severely affected by ME, some of whom cannot tolerate any touch. Despite these difficulties, the team is deeply committed to learning and improving their care practices for this highly vulnerable group.

We were pleased to supply the team with a range of printed materials, including posters and leaflets, to support an upcoming awareness event they are organising. This event, which will take place on 14th May, aims to raise local awareness about ME and highlight the complex needs of those living with the condition. We are awaiting further information regarding this event so that we can share it on our social media platforms.

We thank the team for meeting with us and commend them for their dedication.
