The vintage look that could make us a mint!

There’s a Little Splash Fashion in most of us – just look in your wardrobe or bottom draw because those vintage denims, tops, skirts and dresses that you haven’t worn for years could be worth a mint to the ME Association.

They will be if 40-year-old fashionista Alison Payne has anything to do with it!

Using the magic of Instagram – and, my word, she knows just how powerful that magic can be – Ali has turned her love of rummaging round vintage clothing shops to find outfits that she likes into a business that could be of wider benefit.

“As my health seems to be getting worse these days, I’m unable to leave the house as much which means my favourite hobby of sourcing clothes is becoming nearly impossible”, she tells her 1,700 followers on Instagram

I wanted to ask for your help, but I want there to be a positive purpose! Donating to a charity that helps millions of us with invisible illnesses seems like the perfect solution!

Ali lives in Somerset, a lovely part of the country, with husband Jason and two children, Evelyn (9) and 10-year-old Felix.

The downside is that 12 years ago she was diagnosed with ME and functional neurological disorder and she now has to pace herself carefully if she is to get the most enjoyment out of life.

“I have always loved preloved and vintage clothing, they really suit my style, but I can’t get out much nowadays. So what to do?

“The idea came to me last month. I have a big following on Instagram – so ask them to send in donations of clothing instead, tell them it’s for a great cause and I’ll give away 25% of what I make to the ME Association.

“I’ve never asked for donations before, but it seems to be working!”

Ali promises to reimburse the cost of postage to anybody who entrusts their pre-loved clobber to her. All she asks is that it’s sent to her clean and in good condition.

Ali’s business is called The Little Splash Fashion. Please contact her through her Instagram account using the link in the box below

or email her at dandy_ali@hotmail.com

She runs the business from home where she has plenty of storage space, “fabulous” support from Royal Mail and a family who are happy to indulge her.

The general feeling is that, if anybody can make this work, Ali can!
