MERC recruitment

Applications invited for MERC Patient Advisory Group

Are you interested in joining a patient and carers group which plays an active role in promoting the voice and inclusion of people with ME/CFS in research activities?

The Patient Advisory Group (PAG) to the UK M.E. Research Collaborative (MERC) is recruiting a number of new adult members, based in the UK. We are running a rolling application process that will be open for at least three months from the end of November 2022.

The PAG has asked several ME charities and organisations to support them by advertising the role. Applications will be anonymised and shortlisted by the PAG according to criteria outlined in the application pack.

The PAG supports patient-centred biomedical research into ME/CFS and related processes by providing a direct patient voice—a voice that is as diverse and inclusive as possible. Our primary role was to deliver a patient perspective on the board of the MERC but we also play a part in other ME/CFS research related activities.

Currently our main focus is as Co-Chair of the Research Working Group for the government’s ME/CFS Delivery Plan. The PAG had a place on the Steering Group of the recent James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership to identify ME/CFS research priorities.

The PAG is a flexible organisation and will evolve to support the needs of the research community.

The PAG are particularly interested in recruiting more members to represent the diverse patient voice as well as hearing from people with the skills and capacity to assist with the administrative activities of the group.

Applications will be considered on a monthly basis.

Recruitment is active (see PAG application pack). Please direct any queries to mercpagpublic@gmail.com, including to access alternative arrangements for applications if required. Updates will be posted on social media via ME charities.
