Loughborough Baptists offer a welcome at their fundraising café

We’re delighted to hear that the MEA fundraising café at Loughborough Baptist Church is still going strong – thanks to the sterling efforts of Gillian and Stephen Morris.

The café started last July and is held on the first Saturday of every month between 10.30pm and 12.30pm. So far it has raised £1,172 for our Ramsay Research Fund.

“Stephen and I are committed to regular fundraising for the ME Association. We support our son-in-law who has M.E. so have more experience and understanding of its impact”, Gillian told us.

This month they were delighted to welcome a local lady with M.E. “She had saved up her energy in order to come. That was lovely”, added Gill.

The church has a comfortable café, a relaxed foyer area with settees and in good weather uses the well-kept forecourt, where there are benches, picnic tables and parasols. Outside is the bus dropping-off point for visitors to Loughborough’s lively Saturday market.

“In the summer, the church community holds Open Gardens to fundraise as well and Stephen and I will join in for the ME Association as well.

“As a church, we now understand more about M.E. though the sharing of information and stories that our fundraising has evoked. The people here continue to be very generous in their support of our fundraising.”

Our fundraiser Tony visited the café earlier this year and was made to feel very welcome.
