A big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who is planning on doing their bit for the Go Blue for ME in ME Awareness Week next month. We have been blown over by your enthusiasm for the campaign which will take place May 9-15.

Staff in offices of Mazars and Volker Wessels UK will be Going Blue – as will around 30 Subway stores in the Midlands.

And the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in Scotland has asked its surveying members to make as many of their buildings blue as they can, too.

There will also be more street and supermarket collections, bake sales, and tea parties than ever before.

But the beauty of our Go Blue theme is that fundraising and awareness raising doesn’t need to be complicated or energetic.

Joy Patel’s has promised to dye her hair blue and is encouraging friends to paint their nails blue for the week. Pippa Stacey is selling her Spoonie survivial kits for us again. And Amanda Carroll is to be auctioning her stunning blue paintings.

Simplest of all, Janet Ridgeway is going to tie balloons to her garden gate alongside one of our posters explaining why.

These ‘events’ are taking place across the country to raise awareness of ME and we will do our very best to support you all to make the most of your efforts.

It’s going to be an incredibly busy time – both for our fundraisers and for their families and friends supporting them. Please do enjoy your events, but take care too. Your health, as always, MUST come first.

  1. I’m confused. Does blue or purple represent ME? ME T-shirts, merchandise and logo are purple but we are going ‘blue’ for ME?? Surely we should try to be consistent. Apologies if I have misunderstood.
