£15,230 now received in pledges for our UK ME/CFS Biobank Appeal | 8 October 2014

October 8, 2014

We have today received received another £200 – bringing the total amount of pledges received to £15,230. Pending the arrival of any further last-minute pledges, this is the amount now available for matched funding when the public-giving part of the Christmas Challenge opens at 10am on December 4.

So far, 65 people have offered pledges which we'll be collecting in the first 10 days of January next year once we know just how successful we were in raising money for the Biobank in December.

We're running the appeal under the auspices of the Big Give Christmas Challenge which is a platform created to deliver an unusual way of raising money; each pledge, if all goes well, could be worth four times as much come the end of the public donation phase in December – thanks to a combination of matched funding and topping-up by our charity champion, which this year is ‘Candis' magazine.

So, if we still have £15,230 in pledges in place – and no more – by the time the Big Give call an end to pledging, an appeal target of £60,920 will then locked in. That's serious money, in most people's books. And it would be great if our chairman could then present a cheque for that amount (or perhaps even more when Gift Aid and late donations are taken into account) after the Christmas Challenge is all over.

We have a three-minute film that we invite you to watch.
