Rt Hon Nicholas Soames, Conservative MP for Mid-Sussex, will talk about his grandfather, Sir Winston Churchill, at a special fundraising event to be held by reMEmber (the Sussex-based local ME/CFS group) on Friday, 28 June, 2013.
And the setting for the talk – Danny House, a 16th century stately home at New Way Lane, Hurstpierpoint BN6 9BB – has particular historical significance as it was here that the Imperial War Cabinet of which Sir Winston was a member met in the Great Hall to discuss the terms of the armistice to be offered to Germany at the end of the First World War and authorised US President Woodrow Wilson to begin the negotiations.
At the time, Danny House had been rented to the British Prime Minister Lloyd George. Nowadays, the property is a retirement home owned by Richard Burrows.
Mr Soames is a Patron of reMEmber.
The meeting will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20 and include wine and a finger buffet.
