A trip back to the golden age of disco comes to Bournemouth Pier on Saturday, 2nd August – when Odyssey play a show being organised to raise money for our Ramsay Research Fund.
Odyssey produced a stream of disco hits in the 70s and 80s including ‘Use it up and Wear it out’, ‘Native New Yorkers’ and ‘Inside Out’ and the gig is a bit of a sentimental journey for promoter Steve Heald.
“I lost my mum Thelma from dementia some years ago”, said Steve, who has had ME for last 38 years. “So the first gig I put on there three years ago was for dementia research but this time I wanted to raise much-needed money to find a treatment or cure for ME.”
Steve (61) said Odyssey led by Steven Collazo – son of the original singer Lillian Lopez – are now resident in the UK and much in demand for their brand of disco, soul and funk. The whole eight-piece band will be on stage that night with well-known DJ, Steve Philp, as the warm-up.
So put on your glitter and sparkly bits and head over to Key West on the end of the pier for a great night of live music, where Odyssey will be reprising all their hits.
To book tickets, please use the QR code on the poster, phone Key West direct on 01202 237915 or head over to keywestbournemouth.co.uk.
