The Department of Health and Social Care launch ‘Toolkit’ aimed at stimulating research into ME/CFS

As part of the work surrounding the Department for Health and Social Care’s Delivery Plan, a ‘toolkit’ has been produced that aims to stimulate research into ME/CFS. It illustrates the funding streams that are available, provides guides re: Public and Patient Involvement (PPi), and advice on drafting a successful research application.

The toolkit carries the endorsement of the UK Clinical Research Collaboration, the Department for Health and Social Care, UKRI Medical Research Council, National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), and the Chief Scientist Office in Scotland.

It illustrates funding streams available for ME/CFS research, setting out:

  • UK government research funding opportunities.
  • Support is available for researchers to help with their applications.
  • Guides to embedding patient and public involvement.
  • Resources on developing high quality proposals.

And includes:

  • information on charity funding opportunities including with the ME Association.
  • information on how to get involved with research for people with lived experience of ME/CFS.
