News just in from Mary Corbett, our ‘Tandem Tart’ warrior cyclist.
She will be taking part in the Hounslow and District 100-mile time trial this Sunday with her 80th partner, Simon Hall, to raise money for the ME Association.
Over the years, her often hilariously outfitted outings on board her tandem cycle with invited partners have raised £18,000 for our research fund.
Mary is a member of the Sotonia Cycling Club based in Southampton and her cycle – nicknamed Trixie Bumble Barrow – has survived many a madcap expedition. It’s her second trusty steed, having worn the first one out some years ago!
I’ll be joining her and the club in Hampshire’s New Forest when they stage Mary’s main event of the year – the Tandem Tart Ten time trial – on Sunday 23rd June. I think she’s already got her eye on another partner for the back seat.
And, no, it won’t be me! Mary will have other jobs for me to do.
