Tyler, aged 11, completes charity walk for the MEA and the Tymes Trust

December 27, 2011

From the Richmond Guardian, 23 December 2011.

An 11-year-old boy completed a charity walk around Richmond Park to help his neighbour who suffers from ME.

Tyler Young, year 7 pupil at Teddington School, was inspired to carry out the fundraising effort by Jamie Young, 22, who has become increasingly housebound because of chronic fatigue syndrome.

The schoolboy, of Brunswick Road, Kingston, walked around the park on Sunday, December 18, and collected £110 in donations for the Young ME Sufferers’ Trust and the ME Association.

He said: “My family have got to know Jamie because he is mostly stuck at home all day but when he's well enough likes to come round to us next door for a cup of tea.

“I did the walk to help out and raise awareness so people who don’t know about ME, do now. I explained it to my class at school as well and some of them sponsored me.”
