Management – MEA Disability Rating Scale

The ME Association has expanded on illness severity definitions to produce a disability rating scale that can help to explain your current situation to others, be used in medical or benefit discussions, and as an aid when monitoring progress.

The ME Association has expanded on the illness severity definitions used in the 2002 ME/CFS Working Group Report to the Chief Medical Officer, and the NICE clinical guideline on ME/CFS.

The Disability Rating Scale can help you and your carer to better gauge your level of disability and progress, and might be used when speaking with, for example, the NHS, Department for Work and Pensions, and your local authority about Social Care.

The ME Association telephone helpline – ME Connect – is available every day of the year, during the hours of 10am-12noon, 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Please phone: 0344 576 5326 if you have any questions or would simply like to talk to someone who is there to listen.

Please note this is a download. You can read it on-screen and save to your computer, phone or other device and can attach it to any email you might need to send. But you will need access to a printer if you wish it printed.

0344 576 5326
