February 18, 2014

ME North East are celebrating today – with the news that they have just been awarded £293,000 by the Big Lottery Fund to continue their work with severely affected sufferers in the North East and North Cumbria. This ‘continuation grant' will means they can carry on with the project for another five years.

Chief executive Jennifer Elliott said: “Having just completed the first five years of this project, we have helped over 350 with one-to-one home visits, supporting the individual (and the family/carer) to manage their condition, secure welfare benefit entitlements and access statutory and voluntary agency support wherever possible.

“Our outcomes, targets and milesstones along the way, recorded in our annual reporting to the Big Lottery Fund, has evidenced the success of our work and must certainly have influenced the decision makers to award a further major grant.

“We are delighted – and so are our members.”

ME North East is run from a small office in Chester le Street, County Durham.
