The ME Association has teamed up with a major events organiser to offer supporters the chance to join a charity walk along the glorious South Downs during ME Awareness Week. For an outlay of as little as £15 to cover administration costs, walkers can stride out from Goodwood Racecourse, near Chichester, on Saturday, May 9.
The event – called ‘Just Walk’ – is now in its third year. Every year, it’s becoming more popular. It is organised by international events management company Across the Divide.
The easiest route, just 10km long, will make a great family day out. The entry fee for this is £15 for each adult, with children being accepted free. You can also choose longer distances: 20km, 40km, and 60km. The entry charges increase the further you go as more support services are put in to secure walkers’ enjoyment and safety.
The entry fee includes items like risk management planning, medical support, pick-up vehicles, drinks and snacks, way-marking, an event booklet and a certificate of achievement. The fee is payable when you register to enter.
And, if walking through some of England’s finest countryside really isn’t your bag, you can enter a companion event called "Just Bike" on Saturday, October 3*. This sets off from Coate Water Country Park on the outskirts of Swindon in Wiltshire and covers two distances – 50 km and 100 km.
* Please note that the date of the Just Bike event has been moved from Saturday, September 12.
