The Standing Commission on Carers, which provides independent expert advice to Government on the development and delivery of the National Strategy for Carers, is looking to make public appointments to the Commission.

The Chair will need a track record of achievements in leadership, experience of carer issues, the ability to develop policy and strategy etc.  The Chair will receive a fee of £15,000 pa for at least one day per week, plus £400 for each meeting attended.
 
Members will be required to have a range of experience and knowledge to reflect the breadth of the national strategy, including experience of caring for others, knowledge of flexible employment practice, financial support, education and training, health and local authority systems and provision.  Members will be required to attend 4 full meetings per year and up to 4 subgroup meetings.  They will be paid a fee of £189 per meeting plus travel and subsistence costs.  Compensation for replacement care will be met where appropriate.
 
Initial appointments to the Commission will be for 3 years for the Chair and for up to 5 years for members.
