Sheffield GPs go online

A new website designed to give patients a greater say on healthcare in Sheffield has been launched. has been created by the Central Sheffield GP Consortium to provide up-to-date healthcare information and advice for patients, as well as providing hosting online surveys, allowing them to air their views about services in the city.

The site gives patients information about the work of the GP consortium, topical health tips and what the NHS Patient Choices means for patients.

It also includes the latest national and local health news.

Sharon Turner, Practice Manager at Northern Avenue Surgery and a leading member in the Central Sheffield GP Consortium said: “We’re very excited about our new website. We hope it will act as a real resource for all of our patients.

“You can find the location, contact details and even transport links to your local GP practice, and we are using the site to conduct online surveys, giving patients the chance to air their views about Sheffield’s healthcare.

“Hopefully, the launch of will inspire patients around Sheffield to log on and put across their opinions. That’s what the Central Sheffield GP Consortium is all about – listening to patients and using their feedback to shape the future of the city’s healthcare services.

“Sheffield Health will act as a forum between our GPs and their patients, helping us to work towards a better healthcare service for everybody in the city.”

The Central Sheffield GP Consortium was launched in 2006 and is made up of 90 GPs from 28 practices across the city, who work together to meet the healthcare needs of more than 135,000 people.
