Please help us raise the profile of ME in Parliament.
We ask you to print off the letter below and send it to your Constituency MP at: House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA.
It asks your MP to apply for a Commons adjournment debate in which current concerns worrying the ME community can be raised – so forcing an appearance from a Health Minister to answer the debate.
The idea comes from ME Association patron John Bercow MP, who organised the last ME adjournment debate on the floor of the House of Commons in July 2002, shortly after he officially opened our office in Buckingham.
Mr Bercow believes that the more MPs who enter the ballot for this type of 90-minute debate, the greater are the chances of it happening.
After printing off the letter, please fill in your address and the date at the top of the first page, and write in the name of your MP, followed by the Commons address.
Then sign off the letter on page 2 – writing out your name in capital letters beneath your signature.
There are many issues that need to be raised with the Government: still no funding for biomedical research, a succession of disappointing guidelines from Government sources, and threats to the NHS specialist services for people with ME/CFS.
This letter is one good way to help make the debate happen.
Thanks, as ever, for your support.
