New Health Minister for ME

We have just heard that Ann Keen MP, the new Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Health, has been given the job of overseeing the Department’s work on ME.

Neither Ann Keen nor her boss, Health Secretary Alan Johnson, will be able to attend this afternoon’s meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Westminster.

So Dr Terry Mitchell, the NHS regional clinical champion for ME/CFS in East Anglia, will remain as the main speaker on the subject of the progress of the NHS clinical programme for ME/CFS in England, now the £8.5million ‘ring-fenced’ funding has ended.

Arrangements for the meeting remain as previously published: this afternoon, in Committee Room 17, House of Commons, 1.30pm-3.00pm. Entrance through St Stephen’s Gate. Copies of the Agenda and Minutes of the last meeting will be available on arrival, for those who do not have these papers.
